Keeping our team, customers, and site contacts safe has always been a priority at Cemgate — and the pandemic made that commitment more important than ever. Here's how we adapted our yard and delivery operations, and why our FORS accreditation continues to underpin the way we work.
Contactless, Safer Deliveries
We introduced contactless delivery paperwork, revised driver protocols to minimise close contact on site, and increased the frequency of cleaning across our yard, vehicles, and welfare facilities. Drivers were equipped with hand sanitiser and PPE as standard, and we adjusted scheduling to reduce congestion at busy delivery windows.
What Is FORS?
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation for fleet operators that sets standards around safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. Achieving FORS accreditation means our fleet is independently audited against best-practice standards covering driver training, vehicle safety equipment, and responsible operating procedures.
For our customers, this means every Cemgate delivery vehicle on the road has been through a rigorous vetting process — giving contractors and site managers extra confidence when our trucks are operating on or near their sites.
Ongoing Commitment
While pandemic-specific measures have eased, many of the safety improvements we introduced have stayed part of our standard operating procedure. Safety, whether that's for public health or for site operations, remains a core part of how Cemgate delivers concrete, screed, and aggregates across Buckinghamshire and the Home Counties.
